Local Area Information

Ullswater Lake is only a few minutes walk away from the cottage with a variety of activities offered within the village including Steamer cruises, sailing and boat hire (including motor boat/rowing boat/canoe and kayak hire).

Ullswater Steamers and the local bus service provide options for planning days out and walks further afield. The steamers which stop at Pooley Bridge, Howtown and Aira Force run all year round except Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

Jenkins Field adjacent to the lake offers a wealth of space for a picnic or for children to play.

Glenridding has an excellent selection of pubs, hotels, cafes and village shops to suit a range of requirements and all within a few minutes walk from the cottage. The Tourist Information Centre is useful for planning days out.

Ambleside, Windermere, Keswick or Penrith are within easy reach by car for those wanting to find a base for touring the Lake District.
