Getting Here

Directions from the south:

Leave the M6 at junction 36 to join the A591 and follow the signs to Windermere. At a mini roundabout at Windermere take the third exit on the A592 to Kirkstone Pass, Ullswater and Penrith, follow signs for Penrith taking you over the spectacular Kirkstone Pass. In Glenridding pass 2 shops on your left and just over the bridge turn left. Bear round to the right past the bus stop and take the next turn left just after the bus stop, sign posted to the Youth Hostel and Gillside Farm. Drive uphill and just past the second row of cottages on the right hand side of the road turn right into the parking area at the rear of the cottages.

Directions from the north:

Leave the M6 at junction 40 (Penrith) and follow A66 signed towards Keswick. At the first roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A592 sign posted Ullswater. At junction turn right towards Patterdale & Windermere remaining on the A592 which runs alongside the lake. In Glenridding turn right immediately before the bridge and shops. Bear round to the right past the bus stop and take the next left turn just after the bus stop, sign posted to the Youth Hostel and Gillside Farm. Drive uphill and just past the second row of cottages on the right hand side of the road turn right into the parking area at the rear of the cottages.

The nearest railway stations are at Penrith (13 miles) and Windermere (14 miles).

A bus service runs several times daily from Penrith to Glenridding.
